BrewingScience publication process

All articles published in BrewingScience have undergone a rigorous, single-blind peer review process based on an initial screening by the editor and an anonymous review by at least two independent and anonymous reviewers. The aim of the peer review process is to maintain the originality and quality of the research work and to filter out inferior or plagiarised articles. Peer review ensures the quality of research.

  • The author writes a manuscript according to our author guidelines and submits it.
  • The editor performs an initial review and forwards it to at least 2 (on average 3) reviewers.
  • The reviewers review the manuscript according to our peer review guidelines and verify the quality of the research.
  • The reviewers also make an initial assessment of the practical relevance, which is important for the award of the Ludwig Narziß Award for Brewing Science, because all articles which appear in BrewingScience are considered as entries.
  • The article is sent back to the editor with a recommendation to reject, revise or accept the article.
  • The editor drafts a decision, which is sent to the author together with the reviewers' feedback. Reviewers remain unknown to authors.
  • The editor receives the revised article and, if necessary, sends it to the reviewers for a second review. Once the article has been accepted, the editor sends it to the publications department.
  • Before publication, the author receives a draft of the article for final review and approval.
