European Brewery Convention

Technical Meeting of the EBC Brewing Science Group, held in Berlin on 2–5 June, 1996

Abstract

At the kind invitation of the Deutscher Brauer-Bund e.V., the Wirtschaftsverband der Berliner Brauereien, the Versuchs- und Lehranstalt für Brauerei in Berlin (VLB) and the Forschungsinstitut für Technologie der Brauerei und Mälzerei der VLB, the EBC Brewing Science Group held its first Technical Meeting in Berlin on 2–5 June 1996. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Karl Wackerbauer was responsible for the excellent arrangements made. The EBC Brewing Science Group is an amalgamation of the previous EBC Biochemistry Group and the EBC Microbiology Group. Dr. Poul Sigsgaard, Director of the Scandinavian School of Brewing (Denmark) was – by acclamation – elected Chairman of the new Group and Dr. Alain Debourg, CERIA Institute Meurice (Belgium) was elected VIce Chairman. 54 scientist from 18 different countries participated in the meeting. 26 scientific papers were presented and discussed during three days. Abstracts of these papers are given below.
